Lincolnshire Service Child Awards 2025
On Friday 25 April, the Lincolnshire community gathered for an unforgettable day at the Service Child Awards 2025, hosted by Bishop Grosseteste University and proudly organised by LiNCHigher. The event aimed to create a warm and meaningful celebration, honouring the resilience, strength, and achievements of children from Armed Forces families.
Surrounded by family, friends, teachers, and local dignitaries, the ceremony provided a powerful platform to acknowledge the unique challenges Service children face, and the inspiring ways they continue to thrive. It was heartening to see so many supportive faces in the room, all there to uplift and champion these remarkable young people.
With over 200 nominations across 10 award categories, choosing the winners was no easy task. As a result, several awards were presented to both Primary and Secondary school pupils, ensuring as many stories as possible were recognised. Shaun and Jess, who led the event, shared each nominee’s story — all of which had been submitted by a teacher from their school. These nominations spoke of leadership, kindness, sporting achievements, and academic excellence. Every award recipient reflected the true spirit and strength of the Service child community.
A special thank you goes to the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Band, whose brilliant performance added energy and atmosphere throughout the day. Their music elevated the ceremony and helped make the event truly unforgettable.
This year’s Service Child Awards in Lincolnshire did more than highlight individual accomplishments — they demonstrated the power of community, recognition, and support. The applause that followed each winner to the stage was a powerful reminder of just how much these children are valued. Moving speeches from the Lord Lieutenant, Vanessa Plumley from the RAF Families Federation, and Captain ‘Dutch’ Holland from RAF Waddington added an extra layer of meaning and reassurance, letting families know they are never alone.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the 2025 Lincolnshire Service Child Awards — we hope to welcome you back next year for the 2026 ceremony, where we can once again honour the extraordinary children of our Service families.
